Foxfire & Freeways: Montana, Tiny Vikings & Old Friends 🏔️🦊⚔️
Montana was another fun one! 🧡
I spent a good part of the weekend helping one of my favorite vendors, Thistle Mountain Traders.
He’s actually the one who makes all of our family’s kilts, including the ones we ordered for Bug, me and Chris at the Highland Games. Those should be arriving sometime in December, and I cannot wait to see us all dressed in our family tartans!
If you happen to be heading to a Ren or medieval festival where Thistle Mountain Traders has a booth, definitely stop by and check them out. They have some really cool stuff, and we’ve always been happy with what we’ve gotten from them.
While Mama was busy helping at the booth, Bug was having a pretty great weekend of his own.
There were quite a few kids around his age, and he had a blast playing with them all weekend.
And of course, all that playing meant more walking practice!
Our little guy is getting more and more confident on his feet, and it’s been so much fun watching him go from those first few wobbly steps to actually getting around and keeping up with the other kids.
He also discovered another benefit of being the cute kid at a festival:
People give you stuff. 😂
Bug came away with all kinds of little trinkets simply because people thought he was adorable.
And honestly…
They weren’t wrong. 🤣🧡
I also had him dressed up in what may be one of my favorite little outfits yet.
He wore a long-sleeve tunic shirt with a vest, which initially made him look like he was wearing a very long Viking dress. 😂
So Mama improvised.
I took his sporran and used it like a little belt, which fixed the whole situation.
Underneath he had some comfy hippy-style pants, along with his Norse cap and his little fox-themed sock shoes.
The end result?
One ridiculously cute little Norse road warrior. 🦊⚔️
And those sock shoes have seriously been one of my favorite things for him.
They’re comfortable, flexible and easy for little feet to move around in, which is especially nice now that Bug is becoming such a little walker.
Definitely worth checking them out if you’re looking for something for your little ones.
By the end of the weekend, we were all ready for a little downtime.
So now we spent one last night at the hotel before we pointed the camper toward Minnesota. 🛣️
And here’s another countdown I can hardly believe:
About three weeks until we’re finally home in Ohio. 🥹🧡
Three more weeks of road.
Three more weeks of festivals, campgrounds, packing, unpacking, driving and whatever else gets thrown our way.
Then we’ll finally be back home with our chickens, our own kitchen and our own beds.
As much as I’ve loved this adventure, I think we’re all going to be pretty happy to see that driveway.
But we’re not there yet.
So for now…
On to Minnesota. 🦊🛣️
Until the next mile, keep the fire lit and the road calling. 🔥
