Road Notes: Back in Montana

Road Notes: Back in Montana 🏔️🦊

We made it to Montana!

A little later than originally planned, because apparently leaving exactly when we intend to leave is merely a suggestion at this point. 😂

But we made it last night and pulled into our campground for the evening.

And almost immediately, it brought back memories.

We’ve stayed at this campground before.

The first time we were here, Bug was almost three months old. 🥹

He was still this tiny little baby traveling around with us, and it was long before Foxfire & Freeways ever became a thing.

Now we’re back.

Bug is walking everywhere, getting into everything, charming people in every state we visit, trying new foods and—because apparently this is his life now—owns his first sword. 😂⚔️

Meanwhile, I’ve spent the months between those two visits documenting our travels, our festivals, our ridiculous camper moments and all the little pieces of life that happen somewhere between one destination and the next.

It’s funny how returning somewhere can suddenly show you just how much has changed.

And Montana is just as beautiful as I remember. 🏔️🧡

I really wish we could’ve spent a little more time at this campground, but we only reserved it for one night since we’re moving into a hotel for this weekend’s festivities.

Our grand plan of using the extra time to reorganize the camper and tackle the laundry?

Yeah…

That didn’t happen. 😂

That’s okay.

Maybe Monday, once we get to our next campsite, I’ll finally get a chance to tackle the mountain of laundry and restore some kind of order to our tiny rolling home.

Today, though, the plan is pretty simple.

First: breakfast.

Then a little shopping because we need a new water filter.

After that, we’ll head over to the festival grounds to drop off the gear and drums before checking into our hotel and getting ready for the weekend.

And honestly?

It’s a gorgeous day in Montana.

The sun is out, we’re back somewhere that holds memories from when Bug was still tiny, and another festival weekend is waiting for us.

Sometimes you don’t realize how far you’ve come until the road brings you somewhere you’ve already been.

Last time we were here, Bug was almost three months old.

This time he’s running around with his own little personality—and probably looking for his next opportunity to steal someone’s food. 😂🧡

And somewhere between those two versions of us…

Foxfire & Freeways was born.

That’s pretty cool to think about.

Now, breakfast.

Because even sentimental road warriors need to eat. 😂🦊

Until the next mile, keep the fire lit and the road calling. 🔥🛣️
