Backroad Notes: Uh Oh… Bug Found His Feet 😂🧡

Well, it’s happening.

Bug is walking.

Not just taking a couple hesitant steps before plopping back down anymore, either.

This little dude is getting CONFIDENT. 😂

It feels like it happened almost overnight.

At Grover Beach, he was still practicing—taking some steps here and there, but not quite trusting himself enough to really take off.

Then we went to Pismo State Beach.

Something about having all that sand beneath his feet and the Pacific stretched out in front of him must have flipped a switch, because he walked an entire yard length toward the water all by himself.

And apparently that was all the proof he needed.

Fast-forward to our hotel outside Portland, and suddenly Bug was showing off.

Back and forth across the room he went, getting steadier and more confident with every trip.

At one point he even started looking suspiciously close to a RUN.

Sir.

You JUST figured out walking. 😂

Can we please enjoy this milestone for five minutes before you unlock the next level?!

And now that he’s figured out those little legs, you can see how proud he is of himself. He wants down. He wants to explore. He wants to GO.

Our little road baby isn’t content just watching the adventures from Mama or Papa’s arms anymore.

He wants to walk into them himself. 🥹

And apparently all this growing up works up an appetite, because today brought another first:

Fried shrimp! 🍤

I wasn’t sure what he’d think about it, but Bug approved.

He didn’t scarf it down like his beloved fries, either. 😂 He sat there taking his time, nibbling away at his shrimp and apparently deciding this was something worth savoring.

Another food officially added to Bug’s ever-growing list of things he’s tried on the road.

It’s funny watching all these tiny milestones happen while we’re traveling.

A first taste here.

A few steps there.

Then suddenly those few steps become an entire stretch of beach…

And before you know it, your baby is almost running around a hotel room while casually eating fried shrimp. 😂

Slow down just a LITTLE bit, Bug.

Mama would like a chance to catch up. 🧡

But I know that’s not how this works.

So we’ll keep taking the pictures, writing down the little moments and cheering him on as those tiny feet carry him farther and farther into the world.

Our littlest road warrior has officially found his feet. 🦊🛣️🧡

And something tells me we’re about to spend a whole lot more time chasing Bug while we’re chasing miles. 😂
