Roadside Notes — Raton, New Mexico
We made it to Raton this evening — a quiet, quaint little town that serves as a familiar stopping point between Colorado and New Mexico. After a long day on the road, it felt good to finally slow down and settle in for the night.
The plan from here is to arrive in Colorado Springs early in the morning. We’ll likely spend most of the day resting and recovering from the drive, with the possibility of exploring a few nearby spots if energy allows. After that, we’re looking forward to spending a couple of days with some dear friends before making our way to the festival grounds.
Despite the delays we ran into earlier this morning, the remainder of the trip went smoothly overall. The only real challenge was the occasional strong winds along the way, a reminder that even the calmer stretches of travel can still keep you on your toes.
For now, exhaustion is catching up, and rest is calling. I’ll share more from the road tomorrow.
Until the next mile, keep the fire lit and the road calling.
