Foxfire and Freeways: Night 1 ~ Camper Chronicles

Foxfire & Freeways: Night One — Camper Chronicles

We officially made it to Texas and settled into the camper… and just like that, a new chapter kicked off.

Now, let me tell you—camper life sounds real peaceful until bedtime rolls around.

Lil man decided Night One was the perfect time to test our patience, endurance, and overall willpower. What followed was a solid two-hour bedtime battle. Rocking, pacing, quiet singing, repositioning… rinse and repeat.

At one point we thought we had him. False victory.

At another point, we tried keeping him awake earlier so he’d crash easier later… yeah, he had other plans.

Somewhere between “he’s definitely about to fall asleep” and “how is he still awake,” we just accepted that this was part of the process.

And honestly? It is.

New place, new routine, new everything. His little world just flipped upside down, so of course he’s gonna fight sleep like it’s his full-time job.

But eventually… he gave in.

And just like that, the camper got quiet.

That kind of quiet that only comes after a long day, a long drive, and a long bedtime battle.

The kind where you just sit there for a second and think,
“Alright… we’re really doing this.”

Camper life.

Traveling. Festivals. Road days. Late nights. Early mornings.

It’s not perfect, but it’s real—and we’re figuring it out one night at a time.

We’ll be staying in Wichita Falls for a few days before heading out toward Colorado for the Barbarian Festival, and if Night One taught us anything, it’s this:

There’s going to be a lot more stories like this.

And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.
